Antonio Barragán Fernández (born 12 June 1987) is a Spanish footballer who played for Liverpool as a defender from 2005-2006. He made just one appearance in his time at the club.

Liverpool careerEdit

Barragan arrived from Sevilla's youth setup in July 2005. He had been on the verge of breaking through to Sevilla's first team, but rejected a contract offer. Sevilla's sporting director Ramon Rodriguez confirmed that Barragan "He has been negotiating with them [Liverpool] for the past six months." Liverpool were able to capture his signing due to FIFA rules that youth players without contracts can be signed, although they did have to pay a compensation fee of £240,000.

The Spanish right back made his debut in a Champions League 3rd qualifying round 1st leg match against CSKA Sofia on 10 August 2005, coming on as a 79th minute substitute for Fernando Morientes. This proved to be Barragan's sole appearance for Liverpool, though he did feature as an unused substitute in two Champions League matches.

His stay at Liverpool came to an end on 4 August 2006, when he was snapped up by Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna on a five year contract for a sum of £680,000. The deal involved a clause to allow Liverpool to buy back the player for £475,000 in the second or third year of his contract.
