Liverpool careerEdit

Liverpool signed the highly-rated Mavinga on 7 July 2009 from the Paris St. Germain youth academy on a three-year deal. Mavinga spent his first season at Anfield playing with the reserves, however he began training with the senior side towards the end of the 2009-10 season. When Roy Hodgson came in as manager, Mavinga was relegated back down to training with the reserves, frustrating the player. Mavinga was loaned to Belgian side, Racing Genk on 21 December 2010 for the rest of the 2010-11 season.

On 19 July 2011, Liverpool confirmed they had sold Mavinga to Rennes for a fee of around £1,000,000. Mavinga never made a competitive appearance for the Liverpool first team.
