Craig Roddan (born 22 April 1993) is an English footballer who played as a midfielder for the Liverpool Under 21s.

Liverpool career[]

Roddan joined the Academy in the summer of 2009 from Wigan Athletic. He is highly regarded as having a good range of passing and is a competitive tackler. His first season at the club was a success, but he did spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines with injury. Arguably the highlight of his season was scoring the winning goal- a penalty- in the 4-3 victory over rivals Everton. He formed a good midfield partnership with Academy graduate Conor Coady and was heavily involved in the Under 18s impressive 2010-11 season, making 29 appearances and scoring two goals. He was promoted to the Reserves for the 2011-12 season, for whom he made 13 appearances, 8 of which came in the NextGen Series. He continued to be an integral part of the U21s as he made 28 appearances during the 2012-13 season. He spent a significant part of the season filling in at left back due to injuries to other players, and performed this unfamiliar role admirably.

Continuing as a key component of the U21s side in the 2013-14 season, now back in his preferred central midfield role, Roddan netted a rare goal on 4 November 2013 with a fine long range strike that sent Liverpool 1-0 up against Middlesbrough. On 28 November 2013 however, Roddan was sent out on an emergency loan to Carlisle, with a view to a permanent transfer. This did not materialise however, and after his loan at Carlisle expired, he moved on loan to Accrington Stanley on 4 January 2014. At the end of the season, he was released by Liverpool.
