Tyrell Belford (born 6 May 1994) is an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper for the Liverpool Academy and Reserves from 2009 until 2013.

Liverpool career[]

Livepool signed the highly-rated Belford as a 15-year-old from Coventry City on a three year deal in the summer of 2009, ahead of competition from Stoke City and Manchester United. In the 2010-11 Academy season, he made 18 appearances for the Liverpool youth side as he shared the number 1 jersey with Jamie Stephens. His performances earned him international recognition, as he took part in the U17 Algarve Tournament for England in summer 2011. On 1 July 2011, Liverpool announced that Belford had signed a contract extension along with other Academy stars, Adam Morgan and Stephen Sama. Belford committed to Liverpool until June 2013.

Belford began the 2011-12 season as the first choice 'keeper of the Reserves with Brad Jones on sabbatical and both Martin Hansen and Peter Gulacsi on loan. He was also the 'keeper of choice for the NextGen Series. When Hansen returned from his loan however, Belford returned to playing more regularly for the Under 18s, with Jamie Stephens dropping to backup. Belford saw the season out with the Under 18s as Liverpool reinforced their Reserve 'keeper options with the purchase of Danny Ward.

The 2012-13 season was a difficult one for Belford as the presence of Ward and Gulacsi prevented him from appearing for the U21s, whilst the fine form of new Academy scholar Ryan Fulton kept him on the sidelines for the U18s. Belford made three appearances for the U18s and two for the U19s in the NextGen Series before being released by Liverpool at the end of the season. He went on to sign for Swindon Town.
