Liverpool career[]

Liverpool signed the highly-rated Trickett-Smith from Crewe Alexandra on 18 April 2012 for an initial fee of £300,000- rising depending on future first-team appearances. Liverpool beat fierce competition from Manchester City for the young midfielder's signature, who penned a five year deal with the Reds. Trickett-Smith made his debut for the Under 18s in a pre season game against Exeter on 14 July 2012, netting the third goal of his side's 8-1 win. He followed this up with a goal in each of the side's next two pre season matches. He began the 2012-13 season as a key member of the Under 18s starting XI. He netted his first competitive goal for the side on 15 September 2012, with an impressive solo effort in a 2-1 loss to Chelsea. Trickett-Smith racked up more appearances for the U18s than any other player in the 2012-13 season with 25 games, netting an impressive nine goals. He also appeared four times in the NextGen Series. He was rewarded for his fine form with a professional contract at the end of the season. In the 2013-14 season, Trickett-Smith netted 12 goals for the U18s in 25 appearances. He also made three appearances for the U21s during their 2013-14 season.

In April 2016 it was confirmed that Trickett-Smith was released by the club having failed to get near the first team under either Brendan Rodgers or Jurgen Klopp.
