Rafael Páez Cardona is a Spanish footballer who played as a defender for the Liverpool U21s from 2013 to 2015.

Liverpool career[]

Liverpool completed the free transfer signing of young centre back Rafa Paez on 2 September 2013 following the starlet's release by Real Madrid. Paez had initially spent time with Liverpool on trial, competing with the U21s in their 2013-14 pre-season fixtures. He impressed the club enough to be given a permanent deal, and he made his debut on 23 September 2013 as the U21s beat Man City 2-0. Paez was commended for an impressive display in the match. He forged a good partnership with Lloyd Jones at the heart of the U21s defence, and completed the season with 15 appearances and one goal to his name.

On 14 May 2014, Paez started in the Liverpool first team's post-season friendly away to Shamrock Rovers, partnering Martin Kelly in central defence in a 4-0 win. On 7 August 2014, Paez moved to Italian Serie B side Bologna in a loan-to-buy deal.

On 6 August 2015, it was confirmed that Paez moved back to Spain to sign for Alcorcon on a permanent deal.
