Péter Gulácsi (born 6 May 1990) is a Hungarian professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Liverpool from 2007 until 2013.
Liverpool career[]
Gulacsi initially joined Liverpool on loan for the 2007-08 season from Hungarian side MTK. The move was made permanent on 1 September 2008 and Gulacsi showed he didn't have to think twice about signing, saying "After spending one year on loan I had no hesitation in agreeing to sign a permanent contract. To have signed for Liverpool is an unbelievable feeling."
Having made the substitutes bench just twice in the first half of the 2008-09 season, in February he was loaned out to Hereford for the remainder of the season. Gulacsi also endured two emergency loan spells on 16 April 2010 and 17 September 2010- both to Tranmere Rovers. Gulacsi took part in Liverpool's 2011 pre season tour of Asia, before joining Hull City on a season-long loan on 19 July. Gulacsi was recalled slightly early- on 11 April 2012- after suspensions to both Pepe Reina and Alexander Doni left Liverpool with Brad Jones as the club's only available senior goalkeeper for the upcoming FA Cup semi final clash with Everton on 14 April.
With the departure of Doni from Liverpool in the new season, Gulacsi entered the 2012-13 season as the club's third-choice goalkeeper. During the season, he found himself on the bench on a number of occasions for the first team, however he was unable to make a senior appearance for the side. He continued to perform for the Liverpool Under 21s during their 2012-13 campaign, helping them to reach the semi-finals of the U21 League. On 7 June 2013, Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg confirmed they had signed Gulacsi, thus bringing his six-year stint at Liverpool to a close. Gulacsi had made the bench 51 times for the senior side, but was never able to make a competitive appearance.
