Jakub Sokolik (born 28 August 1993) is a Czech footballer who played for the Liverpool Under 21s as a defender.

Liverpool careerEdit

Liverpool signed Czech centre back Sokolik from Czech club Banik Ostrava in 2009. He made his Liverpool debut on 20 April 2010 in the Reserves' mini-derby match against Everton, in which he produced an excellent display against Everton's senior striker Victor Anichebe. Despite this however, he failed to rack up many appearances for the youth sides for some time. His Under 18s bow didn't come until midway through the 2011-12 season when he and Ryan McLaughlin were drafted into the side in place of Peter Aylmer and the departed Tom King as partners to Joseph Rafferty and Matty Regan in a reshuffled backline. Sokolik retained his place in the team for the close of the season and performed well, netting his first goal for the side in a 4-1 loss to Middlesbrough on 3 March 2012. Sokolik made the step back up to Reserve team football for the 2012-13 season (now competing as the Under 21s) and with Andre Wisdom's promotion to the first team, he regularly partnered Stephen Sama at the heart of the Liverpool defence. Unfortunately however, Sokolik's 2012-13 season was marred by injury, and he only managed to play 10 matches. In the 2013-14 season, Sokolik played in the U21s first match of the season- a game he captained- before leaving to undergo trials at other clubs. On 11 March 2014, he signed on loan with Southend until the end of the season. After the conclusion of the season, Sokolik was released by Liverpool. He went on to join former teammate Adam Morgan at Yeovil.
