José Manuel Reina Páez (born 31 August 1982 in Madrid, Spain), or more commonly know as José Reina, is a Spanish goalkeeper currently playing for Liverpool and the Spain national football team.

Reina began his footballing career at Barcelona's B team, he then went on to play for the Barcelona first team making 30 appearances. Reina moved to Villarreal in the 2002 season in an attempt to get first team football, he helped Villarreal to reach the Champions league in the 2004–05 season.

He was signed by Liverpool in July, 2004 with Rafael Benítez hailing him as the best goalkeeper in spain, he made his debut in the 1st qualifying round for the 2005–06 UEFA Champions League, against Welsh team Total Network Solutions, where he kept a clean sheet.

He has a reputation of saving a large amount of penalty kicks, and some of his more famous performances were against West Ham in the 2006 FA Cup Final, where he saved 3 of the four kicks taken by West Ham in a 3-1 penalty win for the reds. Another famous performance was in the 2006-07 Champions League semi-final second leg, with the scores level at 1-1 on aggregate, the game went to penalties, where Reina saved from Robben and Geremi, to secure a 4-1 penalty win and send Liverpool to the final, that they ultimately lost.
